Visit policies
Welcome to BetaSteez. These rules protect your chair time and the specialist’s day. By paying a deposit (or booking fee) you agree to them. They match how the app actually works — not a single salon’s front desk.
Effective September 2026
Booking
Hold the chair. Online bookings are held with Paystack. Most specialists take a service deposit (often about 20%, minimum ₦2,000 — they can set a different %) plus the BetaSteez booking fee shown at checkout. The rest of the service is due when the job is done. If a specialist turns deposits off, you still pay the booking fee now.
Confirmation. The slot is confirmed after Paystack succeeds — not when you tap a time. Track it in Appointments.
Reminders. We send transactional email (and push if you opted in) about 24 hours and about 2 hours before a visit. Specialists can also get a “visits today” ping. Keep your email and phone current. These are visit reminders, not marketing.
More than one service. Bridal, party, or add-ons are booked as one visit with a primary service plus extras on that specialist’s menu. There is no separate “group of 3” product. A specialist may set a higher deposit on long jobs — that amount is what you pay to hold the chair.
Cancellation & rescheduling
A missed or late-cancelled slot is time the specialist cannot sell, and someone on the waitlist may have wanted it. We use the deposit you already paid — we do not silently charge the full remaining balance.
24+ hours’ notice
Cancel from Appointments. The deposit is refunded via Paystack (often 5–10 business days). The booking fee may stay with the platform. The freed slot can be offered to the waitlist.
Less than 24 hours
Late cancel: the deposit is forfeited (that is the hold you paid — typically ~20%, or whatever % the specialist set). We do not auto-charge 50% of the full menu price on top.
No-show
If the specialist marks a no-show, the deposit is forfeited and the booking fee is not refunded. Repeat no-shows may require a higher deposit on later bookings at the specialist’s discretion. We do not auto-charge the unpaid remainder of the service.
Reschedule
You or the specialist can move the visit before it starts. The original deposit carries over. New times still have to be free on the specialist’s calendar (including Google Calendar busy time if they connected it).
Late arrival
15-minute grace. Specialists are asked to hold the chair about 15 minutes. This is a house rule, not an automatic clock in the app.
Shortened service. If you arrive later than that, they may shorten the service so the next client is not delayed. You still owe the booked price (deposit already paid; balance as agreed).
Too late to start. If they cannot run the service at all, treat it as a late cancellation: deposit forfeited. Message them from Appointments if you are stuck in traffic — they decide whether to wait or mark no-show.
If the specialist cancels
Your deposit is refunded. Rebook the same specialist or pick someone else from Appointments. A waitlisted client may be offered your freed time.
Waitlist
Joining a waitlist is free and is not a paid booking. When a future visit is cancelled, the next waiter can get a short link (about 30 minutes) to book that slot. Paying the deposit locks it.
Home & travel visits
For home or travel jobs, provide a safe, clean space and power where needed. The specialist may decline an unsafe location. In-area travel fees show at checkout when they apply.
Disputes
File from Appointments within 48 hours of the visit time. Admin reviews each case. If upheld, the deposit is refunded via Paystack. If dismissed, the booking stands and any pending specialist payout can be released.
